TACSC Leadership Day at St. Pius X School.

St. Pius X School considers the education of the whole child to be very important. We strive to create a variety of activities during and after school that meet the diverse needs and talents of the students.

TACSC |
The Association of Catholic Student Councils (TACSC) is a non-profit, faith based, membership organization that is committed to developing life leadership skills in young people so they can lead more effectively and make a difference in the communities where they live.

Student Council |
Under the direction of the moderator, students in Grades 1-8 take a leadership role in service and in designing activities for the student body. Students in Grades 6-8 serve as mentors/role models in representing our school to the public and in building in teamwork through the various committees which comprise the Student Council.

Academic junior
|
Students in Grades 6-8 who enjoy additional academic challenges work together and as individuals to represent St. Pius X at the annual competition in March. Under the direction of the teachers, parents, and grandparents coaches, students work to master material in three areas; Logic, Super Quiz, and 8 individual topics in religion, literature, language arts, science, math, fine arts, social studies, and current events. The topics vary each year.

safety Patrol |
Students in Grades 5 & 6 serve as Safety Patrol members to help monitor traffic safety in the neighborhood.

Student Tech Team |
Schedule during the school week. This club, coordinated by our First Grade Teacher, was developed to utilize the technical talent of some of our students. Part of the team's responsibilities include assisting our teachers and their peers involving tech related questions, setting up the sound equipment for the Monday morning school assembly, and photographing various school events

Choir |
St. Pius X School enjoys an excellent music worship program led by our choir, which sings at the Wednesday School Mass under the direction of our choir director.

Prayer Partners |
Younger students are paired with older students from TK through 8th Grade. These Prayer Partners celebrate Mass together, enjoy activities together, and form bonds which are part of the St. Pius X family experience.

Yearbook |
Under the direction of a parent moderator, student in Grade 8 work to compile a visual record of the year's activities and utilize their technological and teamwork skills to produce the yearbook.

First Lego Robotics |
This program meets after school on Thursdays. It is parent led. The students are taught programming, engineering concepts, technical troubleshooting, teamwork, and strategy building

Chess Club |
An after school program that meets on Wednesdays. The students are taught basic and advanced elements of chess play. The club participates in various chess tournaments throughout South Bay.
($120/participant per 8 weeks) |
Mad Science |
Mad science is an outside organization that offers a meaningful and fun science curriculum. The program meets on Mondays after school.

Little Flowers |
Little Flowers Girls' Club is an after school program that meets on the second Friday of each month from October to May. The program is directed towards young girls in grades 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th. The club teaches young girls about the different virtues through scripture, saints' biographies and Catechism of the Catholic Church. They engage in various art activities that focus on the virtues.
